The NW swell I discussed yesterday picked up just in time for the Ian Walsh Menehune contest at Hookipa this weekend. Windswell went up a notch too. Home guess for Hookipa is around chest to head high with occasionally bigger sets.

The upstream buoys show signs of the start of a new small NW swell. Below are the maps of April 29 through March 1 that show the fetch that generated it. Home guess for Hookipa is around waist high of easterly windswell waves in the morning with possible organized bigger NW sets showing in the late afternoon (Surfline calls for 1.2ft 17s at 6pm).

Wind map at noon. The other ones can be found here.

1ft 11s of NW energy is not going to make much at all on our north shore, neither is a windswell from 105 degrees. Home guess for Hookipa is basically flat with occasional waist high breakers. Bigger on eastern exposures.
